“Back to school”: BELSTAFF launches its first kids collection

The kids collection from the British luxury lifestyle brand BELSTAFF is now available from retailers worldwide. The unisex collection is the first to be released under the guidance of creative director Delphine Ninous.

BELSTAFF’s first children’s collection for six-to-twelve-year-olds focuses on outerwear styles. These combine with the jerseys with playful print motifs. The classic BELSTAFF cuts and styles feature here. The label’s historical relationship to motorsport is referenced in the children’s line by the hand-painted motorbike print, the BELSTAFF phoenix, and the new logo design.

As part of the launch, the company is releasing a new version of its waxed cotton jacket, the Junior Roadmaster. The iconic “four-pocket” Roadmaster jacket has been a bestseller since its launch in the 1980s. The design is based on an expansion of the Trialmaster jacket from the 1940s, which was originally intended for bikers and their participation in the notorious Scottish Six Day Trials.

The jacket for children has a drawstring waist and retains the classic check lining. The range features another waxed cotton jacket, the “Tourmaster”, with two front pockets and a hood. Both waxed jackets provide protection against the wind and weather all year round, and are available in the colours “Dark Navy”, “Racing Red”, “Bright Mustard”, and “Black”.

Of the jackets, the most technical is the “Holland jacket”, which is a very lightweight jacket with a water-repellent Teflon finish. Available in “Dark Navy” and “Racing Red”, it’s perfect for colder weather.

Several pieces are made of jersey with child-friendly and easy-care qualities. These items include the “Kingley” hoodie, the “Riley” sweatshirt, the “Reeves” T-shirt, and the “Hanway” T-shirt.

“It was a lot of fun to work on this first kids collection. Firstly, as a mother, I know how important it is to have practical children’s clothes. Then, of course, the designs had to be fun. We are therefore very happy to present this collection, and we are looking forward to the next collections in 2018,” says Delphine Ninous, Creative Director, about the collection launch.

Since September 2017, the children’s collection has been available worldwide in BELSTAFF branches, online, and from Cruise UK as an exclusive launch partner. The collection will be available from other specialist retailers from November.

The prices for the children’s line start at €40 for T-shirts and go up to €350 for the Roadmaster.
