Playtime Berlin: a return to Palazzo Italia – but after Fashion Week
The Playtime has made a positive impression with its Berlin premiere during Fashion Week on 5-6 July. In total, 120 brands presented their collections for spring/summer 2018 at the Palazzo Italia (Unter den Linden).
With a “long-term vision” for the children’s fashion fair, Director Sébastien von Hutten intends to expand the Berlin location in addition to Paris, New York, and Tokyo. The dates for fall/winter 2018/19, however, will take place a week after the next Fashion Week Berlin. Because the collaboration between IMG and Mercedes-Benz is ending, Fashion Week Berlin is to be relaunched next January.
Playtime Berlin will take place on 23-24 January. The organisers canvassed the exhibitors extensively for their views on the most suitable dates for the trade fair. With the dates chosen, there is no competition with Pitti Bimbo in Florence from 18-20 January. Director von Hutten considers it to be the optimal solution, offering exhibitors in Berlin a suitable platform for the presentation of their fall/winter collections, even if that means moving outside the framework of Fashion Week. Exhibitors from the children’s clothing sector comprise 75% of Playtime’s exhibitor portfolio.
The next Playtime in the USA is almost here. From 6-8 August, around 200 exhibitors will be exhibiting in New York. A similar number of exhibitors are confirmed for Playtime Tokyo from 22-24 August.
