Exhibitors at Spielwarenmesse can now apply for the ToyAward. The award is regarded as an important seal of quality for the industry.

Every year, Spielwarenmesse presents the ToyAward to particularly outstanding new products. The award enjoys a high status in the industry. It is an important seal of quality for buyers and dealers, as international experts scrutinise the submissions in detail. The application deadline started on 14 September. Interested companies exhibiting at the 71st Spielwarenmesse from 29 January to 2 February 2020 in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg can now register their innovations for the ToyAward free of charge. The Innovation Award is presented in the four age-group-specific categories. Baby & Infant covers 0 to three years. PreSchool applies to products for three to six-year-old children. The SchoolKids segment is aimed at solutions for six- to ten-year-old children. Teenagers & Adults includes products for older children. There is also the Startup category, in which companies younger than five can participate. The registration deadline is 11 December 2019.

ToyAward with a two-stage selection process

The ToyAward enjoys great popularity among the exhibitors. Most recently, 433 exhibitors took part with a total of 838 innovations. The jury plays an important role here. It consists of market researchers, international trade representatives, scientists and a blogger. For 2019, a two-stage selection procedure will apply. Via the toyaward.de website, exhibitors can submit up to three product descriptions in English with photos and, ideally, videos. Within the framework of a digital preliminary decision, the jury will make a shortlist. It checks the submissions for success potential in the retail sector, fun to play, comprehensibility of the product concept and originality. The expert jury then nominates three products in each of the five categories at a joint meeting in the run-up to Spielwarenmesse. The requirements from the digital preliminary decision are extended by the criteria processing & quality as well as security. All nominated products will be publicly announced at the main press conference of Spielwarenmesse. The winners will be honoured at the opening ceremony on 28 January 2020.

Baby and toddler product group receives special area

The ToyAward is only one highlight of the next Spielwarenmesse. The baby and toddler products sector will also play a major role at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. The fair announced that 310 companies will be presenting their new products in this segment. The exhibitors are mainly to be found in Hall 2 and a section of Hall 3. Among them are renowned long-standing exhibitors such as Habermaass from Germany, the US company Skip Hop and Nattou from France. For example, Cam Cam Copenhagen A/S from Denmark and the Belgian manufacturer Tiny Magic will be represented at the International Toy Fair for the first time. The broad product portfolio ranges from toys and textile baby equipment to transport equipment and products for care and nutrition as well as living and safety. The special area for baby and toddler articles in the transition area between Halls 2 and 3 supports orientation within the wide range of products.
