Higher, faster, further! Not only little ones enjoy competitions and medals – the grown-ups are just as keen.

Saying this, the criteria for business, especially when developing innovative children’s products, is a bit different to kids’ competitions. Key factors are quality, performance in comfort, design and functionality, innovative spirit and product safety. Here is the up-to-date top list for the baby and toddler segment:

Kiddy captures star prize

There were five stars for the new evo-lunafix baby carrier from Kiddy at the Plus X Award, with the jury awarding top marks in the categories for innovation, high quality, design, functionality and ergonomics. Attracting a special mention was the innovative KLF technology featuring a slatted frame within the baby carrier, which provides an ergonomic flat lying position for infants, as recommended by paediatricians.

Award for versatile Gesslein stroller

Only in stores since June, but already awarded its first prize in May: the INDY pushchair from Gesslein has landed the Plus X Award 2015 in the categories for innovation, design, high quality, ease of use and functionality. The jury was particularly impressed with the multifunctional adapter system, which lets the INDY frame be used with a pram, carrycot, classic pushchair, buggy seat or baby carrier.

Joolz takes double honours

The Red Dot Design Award attracted 1,928 entries from 56 countries. “Best of the Best” in the pushchair category went to the latest member of the Joolz family, the Joolz Geo. The Geo also took the UK Prima Baby Award, with the Day Quadro from Joolz picking up a prize in another category of the same award.

Design and brand awards for ergobag

It’s been a good year so far for Fond of Bags: having secured the German Design Award 2015, the ergobag brand has now been named “Best New Brand” in the Marken-Award 2015. The jury were impressed by how the brand had communicated its innovative product idea and then involved fans in product development. The Cologne-based company started producing ergonomic rucksacks for primary school children in 2010. Its ergolino brand is for kindergarten kids.
