This year’s CBME will take place from 9-12 January in Istanbul. The fair for products for mothers, children and babies focuses on children’s fashion.

This year’s CBME will take place at the Istanbul Exhibition Center. The fair for products for mothers, children and babies will be held for the 36th time.

This year, the focus will be on baby products. This includes the current spring and summer collections for children’s fashion and accessories, but also products for furnishing, care, food, furniture and home textiles. There will also be toys, bicycles and everything for pregnancy.

Mother-baby-child sector with business volume of 600 million dollars

Hatice Dinçer, Exhibition Director of CBME Turkey, explains that “the annual business volume of the mother, baby, children’s clothing and textiles sector reaches 500-600 million dollars and the baby equipment and furniture sector almost 650 million dollars”. Dinçer continues: “CBME Turkey is the longest running and most stable fair in Turkey in the field of children’s baby mothers. This year we expect more than 18,000 trade visitors, mainly from the Balkans, the Turkish Republics, the Middle East, North Africa, the CIS countries and Eastern Europe from 125 countries, 750 brands and 300 companies, to attend the fair”.

She adds: “We are participants in the programme of the Procurement Committee from Greece, Palestine, Montenegro and Kosovo under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce under the General Secretariat of the Istanbul Textile and Clothing Exporter Union. CBME Turkey is the only exhibition in the sector to be supported in terms of the number of square meters, the number of international visitors and the number of participants under Decision No. 2014/4 to support sectorally qualified domestic international trade fairs of the Ministry of Commerce. The manufacturers participating in our fair can benefit from incentives of up to 50 percent on the cost of rent and stand construction”.

CBME Mama Show Event for Babies and Mothers

While the companies present their current collections, trend-setting products for the coming years will also be presented at CBME Turkey in the trend area of CBME. The proceeds from this area will be donated to the TOÇEV Tuvana Education Center.

In addition, the Mamashow will take place, an event focusing on the 0-3 age group, pregnant women and mothers. The show will be accompanied by 28 expert lectures and 21 different educational seminars. Up to 4000 pregnant women and mothers are expected to attend the show.

Market for baby and children’s equipment is growing in Turkey

Turkey is both an important customer and an important producer in the baby and children’s sector. More than 1.3 million babies are born there every year. The volume of the baby goods industry is growing in many sub-areas: from clothing to equipment, from toys to care. Turkey’s total clothing exports amount to 17 billion dollars. Exports of baby clothing account for 1.6%. For textiles, the price of export units per kilogram is estimated at 20 dollars, while the economic size of the sector is set at 500-600 million dollars.

Turkey is an important market for baby equipment in terms of a growing economy and population. The market for baby equipment and furniture reaches approximately 120 billion dollars. The category of prams alone generates a turnover of almost 40 million dollars. About 350 thousand prams are sold every year. Turkish parents spend on average 370 dollars a year on their 0-2 year olds and 665 dollars on their 3-4 year olds.
