The German company Cybex, which merged with Goodbaby International Holding Limited in 2014, is planning to build a research center with a sled facility in Bayreuth, says Johannes Schlamminger the CEO of Cybex. The facility is to be opened at the end of 2018 and will be used to develop and optimize child car seats. In addition to the planned research center in Europe, Cybex already has facilities in China and the USA.

The company’s goal is to accelerate the development of the company and to further enhance the safety of child seats. This should reduce the risk of injury to children in the car. In addition to the new jobs created in the future, the Upper Franconia region will also benefit from the image of an innovative and standard-setting company.

Promotion of the Bavarian State Government

Local politicians, such as Dr. Silke Launert, a member of the German parliament, the mayor of Bayreuth, Brigitte Merk Erbbe, the former mayor of Bayreuth and Dr. Michael Hohl, the current city councilor of Bayreuth, stand behind the project and expressed their support.

Ilse Aigner, the Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, is convinced of the construction of the new facility: “Bayreuth benefits considerably from the construction of the research center. Particularly against the backdrop of BAT’s decisions, the creation of new, sustainable jobs is of particular importance. CYBEX therefore gets every conceivable support to grow in Bayreuth from the state government.”

Economic growth

The CEO of Cybex Johannes Schlamminger is pleased about the support of the Bavarian State Government: “We are very happy that the Bavarian State Government supports our project and that we have won the bid for Bayreuth. The establishment of a research center is an important strategic decision to ensure our future successful economic growth. Bayreuth is thus being developed into a location that sets international standards in child safety.”
