After a good three years, Frédéric Lehmann is about to take his next career step at Lego. The General Manager and Vice President of Lego GmbH will become Senior Vice President for the REEMEA division on January 1, 2019.

The native Frenchman thus enlarges the area for which he will be jointly responsible. The REEMEA region includes Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and Africa. Lego himself describes the area as huge. These are exciting markets in financially and politically challenging times. According to the Moscow Times, Lego has been on the Russian market since 1985. From 2007 to 2013, the company increased its turnover there tenfold to 360 million euros. Lego is also popular in Turkey. Istanbul, for example, is home to one of the five European Legoland Discovery Centers. Frédéric Lehmann will assume the position of Senior Vice President for the REEMEA division at the turn of the year.

Frédéric Lehmann

Frédéric Lehmann has been part of the Lego Group since October 2015

Lehmann joined the Lego Group in October 2015. At the age of 43, he assumed the position of Managing Director of Lego GmbH. He was responsible for business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The graduate of the ESIAE Business School Strasbourg came from the consumer healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline. Since 2011, he has been managing director of the Consumer Healthcare business in the French and Maghreb markets as well as in the French-speaking countries of Africa. At the beginning of his tenure at Lego, he was enthusiastic: “Becoming part of the Lego team is like fulfilling a childhood dream. I wholeheartedly support the Lego vision, the Lego values and the Lego claim to leadership. The Group would like to thank Lehmann for having played a decisive role in driving the Lego strategy in the D/A/CH region during this time as General Manager and Vice President of Lego GmbH and for playing a decisive role in shaping the path for the coming years.

Succession has not been decided yet

Therefore it seems to have been the logical consequence for Frederic Lehmann to take the next step in this company. Nevertheless, he looks back somewhat wistfully: “It was an honour for me to manage the business of Lego GmbH and to work closely with great customers and external partners. Together we have managed to inspire many children with this fantastic brand and to inspire them – of which I am very proud”, says Lehmann and continues: “I am very much looking forward to being able to help shape the forthcoming Christmas business in the D/A/CH region and – together with my colleagues – will do everything in my power to make it a success. In addition, I want to make a smooth transition and a smooth handover with my successor possible”. A replacement has not yet been decided.
