Once again this year, the expert jury of the German Design Awards, awarded several winners in the field of baby and children’s products. They impressed the jury with their innovative product design. The official award ceremony will take place at Ambiente 2019.
Every year since 2012, the renowned German Design Award has honoured products and projects that combine unique design and innovative ideas. The award is presented by the German Design Council. Nominations are made in the categories “Excellent Product Design”, “Excelent Communications Design” and “Universal Design”. The 2019 winners will be honoured at the Ambiente consumer-goods fair on 8 February.
The Jølle baby cradle – gentle waves for babies’ sleep
In the subcategory “Baby and Child Care” products for babies and children, baby and child toys, playground equipment, prams, school bags and accessories are awarded. Special products are highlighted by the title “Gold” or “Special Mention”. The jury – consisting of experts in the fields of product quality, functionality and design – paid special tribute to the winners of this year’s German Design Award.
The 2019 Gold winner in the Baby and Child Care category is the sustainable Jølle baby cradle from “Die Koje”. The cradle is completely free of artificial substances and toxins. It is also made of 100% Swiss stone pine and natural materials.
German Design Award Special Mention
The baby wave also received a special award from the pediatric surgeon Dr. Michel. The ergonomic lying surface of the sustainably produced baby bouncer represents an innovation in this product world. The electric counterpart to this is the Serina 2in1 baby swing from Joie, which promises uncomplicated operation and easy transport.
The Lalaboom educational beads from Tralala Ltd. are an educational pearl toy for children from ten to 36+ months. It supports the little ones in their physical and spatial development and enables them to train their haptic abilities through five different functions. The colourful design and easy-to-clean material were particularly convincing.

Stylish innovations in the pram world
The Venicci Shadow complete transport system from Venicci combines luxury pushchairs with a child car seat. A simple clip system enables a quick change and makes it an uncomplicated everyday companion.
The award-winning Keenz X pram from Bran-New International can also be switched between different types of use and can therefore be used from birth for up to ten years. Since no additional tools are required, it is easy to operate and has a long service life.
The classic design of the multifunctional My Junior Vita pram system from My Junior Vita is primarily aimed at parents. The pram is made of high-quality materials such as natural cotton and is particularly safe. The extra-light aluminium folding frame can be folded with a click.
The Silver Cross Wave double buggy from Silver Cross also stands for timeless design. Thanks to the patented One plus One connection system, it can be easily converted from a single to a double pushchair.
