For the last year and a half, the online store littlehipstar has offered clothes, shoes, accessories, and toys for babies and children. Now the Swiss company is extending its product range to include clothing for children aged up to seven years old. The littlehipstar product portfolio includes trendy and comfortably casual outfits, which are sustainably produced to a high standard of quality. Always in focus: a global and internationally networked clientele.

How was littlehipstar born?

The idea for littlehipstar came to founder Ceyda Avunduk during her first pregnancy: she was desperately searching for one online store with a wide selection of kids’ stuff that was unusual and cool but still practical. She didn’t find what she was looking for. But what she did find were countless individual and exciting fashion labels, mostly for small children, from all around the world. She decided to take matters into her own hands and to make all these brands available on a single website. It was important to her to offer both outstanding customer support and a simple and attractive website design.

How many brands are featured in the online shop?

Currently, littlehipstar features 51 different brands, and the numbers are rising. These include well-known cult labels such as Vans, Converse, and Fjällräven together with internationally coveted children’s fashion brands such as Bobo Choses and The Animals Observatory. We’ve strengthened our selection of nursery and interior design products with new additions. Recent examples include the incredibly cool posters from the Norwegian label Epic Design Store and decorative items from the Dutch brand, A Little Lovely Company. For each brand, we have to be personally convinced by the products, in terms of both design and quality.

What exactly is the deal with littlehipstar’s gift service?

With our “gift finder”, we offer a clear and extremely useful search function on the home page. Once the perfect gift is found, suitable packaging and even a handwritten greetings card with a personal message can be ordered directly from us. This service is particularly useful for people who cannot present the gift in person, but who wish to send it by post (for example, to friends abroad). We ship worldwide. Within Germany, littlehipstar also covers the postage cost for product returns.

How will online shops develop in the future?

We see a very strong trend for mobile shopping via smartphone or tablet. Our visitors already access the littlehipstar website by mobile up to 60% of the time, and this is growing month on month. In the future and more than anything else, online stores will have to make it simple and possible for customers to place orders through their mobile websites. We are currently working at full speed to make our mobile site even more customer friendly. The seamless integration of networks such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat will be increasingly important for online stores in facilitating a direct dialogue with the customer.

What are littlehipstar’s plans for the future?

From the beginning, our goal was to be the number one online shop for exceptional clothing and accessories for infants and children. This mission continues to drive us forward and the enthusiastic feedback from our customers shows us that we are on the right track. We continuously seek to improve and try new things. The expansion of our product range for children up to seven years old was a big and important step for us earlier this year. We plan to grow this range further as soon as possible – just as we’ll do for our whole littlehipstar family…
