The industry’s response shows the importance of the award: Last year, 170 companies from 30 countries applied. The awards were presented directly on the first day of the fair. In the category World of Kids Safety at Home, the Stair Trainer from Mippaa BV won for instance. The modular children’s banister makes it easier for children to climb stairs and fits on any staircase. As a seal of quality, the company prominently advertises the winning of the award on its Homepage.

Winning the prize is valuable for your own product marketing

How important the winning of the prize can be, is shown by the pram manufacturer Heetee Baby Company. The British start-up won the 2017 Award in the category “World of Moving Kids” with its Heetee Power System pram prototype. The model uses the energy of pushing to heat the car, warm up a bottle or charge a smartphone. Managing Director Samuel García Gil on the significance of the trade fair participation and the innovation prize: “It is probably mainly the public image, the Publicity, that you can reach. I think the fair is perfect for sales, simply the ideal event to build relationships and to present your products and business model. As a start-up, it is not always easy to reach your target group when entering a new market.”

Clear criteria for the evaluation of the submissions

The products submitted will be evaluated on the basis of the criteria of innovative character, safety, added value for the customer, design and processing quality. For Gil, the prize is a real signal to the industry: “When Heetee was announced as the winner, it was something very special. In my opinion, the fact that a start-up can prevail at such an award ceremony over large and established companies sends a clear message that a highly motivated team of engineers with fresh ideas, passion and enthusiasm can really make a difference”.
