On 16 November 2018, the Supervisory Board of Koelnmesse decided to terminate its cooperation with Managing Director Katharina C. Hamma with immediate effect, following differing views on the future strategic direction of the company.

According to “Express” and “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, the reason for the separation is a quarrel between Hamma on the one hand and trade fair boss Gerald Böse and CFO Herbert Marner on the other. For the time being, Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse, will be in charge of the Hamma management division.

Graduate engineer Katharina C. Hamma, who was previously authorised signatory of Messe München, was appointed to the management board of Koelnmesse in 2011. At that time, the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) was created especially for Ms Hamma. Since then, she has been responsible for all Koelnmesse events.
