On 26-27 October 2017, MAROC IN MODE – SOURCING MAROC will present the latest developments in the Moroccan textile industry. Around 1500 trade visitors from Africa and Europe are expected at the “Moulay Hassan” site, the race track in Marrakech.

The MAROC IN MODE and MAROC SOURCING trade fairs are held in Marrakech at the same time. Although two separate trade fairs, they are located close to each other. MAROC IN MODE mostly features Moroccan producers, while international suppliers of all kinds of pre-products are also represented at MAROC SOURCING. MAROC IN MODE is divided into ecosystems of fashion, denim, knitwear, workwear, sportswear/leisurewear, and tailoring. This year, a leather goods area has been added. This area will comprise five companies, including Nouhaila Cuir, STAG, and the Moroccan Center for Leather Technology (Center marocain des techniques du cuir).

At this year’s 15th edition of Maroc in Mode and 14th edition of Maroc Sourcing, more than 150 exhibitors from Morocco, Turkey, Portugal, Egypt, and Belgium will present their products. The range of fashion for women, men, and children will cover an area of 5000 square meters. This year will feature leather fashion and leather goods manufacturers for the first time.

Morocco in the fast lane

“Morocco is already a reliable and flexible partner for international fashion business. We have achieved this position by consistently pursuing and intelligently expanding our activities and will continue to do so in the future,” says Muhammad Tazi, General Manager of AMITH.

The host country in the Euromed region increased its exports by 10% in 2016. The North African country is in the seventh place of the international “supply chain” (management approach along the value chain and supply chain) and enjoys advantages such as proximity to Europe, the use of the land route for lorry transport, freedom from customs as a result of the EU free trade agreement, and an excellent price-performance ratio.

Fast Fashion from Morocco

Morocco is a fast-fashion leader, thanks to its many years of experience with vertical brands and its proximity to Europe. Accordingly, the sector can react to new trends immediately, producing and delivering within a few days. Fast-fashion providers from Europe are convinced of the advantages of the movement. In the fashion industry, the motto is “It’s not the big who eat the small, rather the fast who eat the slow.”

Exhibitors in the fast-fashion sector include Somitex, YKK, Bluebird, and Cotex.

Partnership with Messe Frankfurt

The fair is organised by AMITH, the Moroccan textile association, in collaboration with the Moroccan Foreign Trade Ministry and Maroc Export. On the occasion of Maroc in Mode and Maroc Sourcing, AMITH will sign a memorandum of understanding with Messe Frankfurt. This is intended to lay the foundations for future cooperation. The aim of the cooperation is to establish Morocco as a regional centre for textile trade fairs.
