MMC: New trade fair concept “Quarter” brings together kidswear and shoes

The MMC fashion trade fairs have revised their concept and will offer another location in Rostock, where fashion, shoes, lingerie, and kidswear can be presented. All order events will now be held under the title “Quarter”. For organiser Regtrade, the name change will above all increase recognition value as well as ensuring a better organisational categorisation of the trade fairs.

In Leipzig, the order rounds for children’s fashion and shoes will also be combined. In 2018, Quarter Kids and Quarter Shoestart will be held on three and two days, respectively, from 9-11 February and 10-12 February, and from 10-12 August and 11-12 August. With the merger, the organisers want to cater to children’s clothing traders who also offer shoes.

“Talks with our exhibitors and trade visitors prompted us to find a new date for the kids’ order days. This date will better meet the needs of specialist retailers,” explained Juliane Hartmann, project manager MMC fashion trade fairs, to Luna Journal.

The scheduled days will shift for the same reason. The order days previously ran from Saturday to Monday, but will now run from Friday to Sunday. “For the first time, we are offering the MMC Forum as a presentation area, in addition to the showrooms on the 1st floor in the Kids Order Center. This presentation area will ensure a uniform and transparent trade fair character,” continued Hartmann.

With the renaming, the location Rostock will also be added. Regtrade AG will cooperate with HanseMesse Rostock from February 2018 onwards. “As Quarter Nord, it will bring together under one roof the sectors of fashion, shoes, accessories, kids, and lingerie,” said Rolf Zimmermann, Director Regtrade AG.

The Quarter Nord in Rostock will premiere from 17 to 18 February and will take place in the summer from 25 to 26 August.

According to the trade fair organisers, Quarter is a symbol of the 17 million end-users and 6000 retailers, who live in the MMC core area and thus represent a quarter of the German fashion, shoe, and lifestyle market.
