No company can avoid digitalisation without fear that it will no longer be able to keep up with its competitors. Many companies want to drive their business forward again with new strategies and innovations. This includes Zara. Since April 12, 2018, the fashion chain has been focusing on augmented reality.

As part of a test, customers can try out the new shopping experience in 120 selected Zara stores for two weeks. In Germany, this can be tried out in five branches, including Munich (Theatinerstrasse), Frankfurt (Börsenstrasse), Düsseldorf (Königsallee), Cologne (Schildergasse) and Hamburg (Mönckebergstrasse).

Smartphone offers a realistic shopping experience

In order to immerse themselves in the extended reality, customers need to download the appropriate app onto their smartphone. Zara stores have signs to point the smartphone at. Users will see models Léa Julian and Fran Summers, who can be “brought to life” in different frequencies to present the current Studio Collection. By posing, moving and even talking, potential buyers are offered a very realistic shopping experience.

Order at the push of a button

With one click the desired outfit can be ordered and bought locally in the branch. The Zara AR (Augmented Realtity ) app is available via iTunes and Google Play. Further sequences will follow after the first week.

In a short introductory video on his homepage, Zara shows how Augmented Reality works.
