The winners of the coveted ToyAward were announced at the opening ceremony of the International Toy Fair. For the first time, these were divided into five categories.

The 70th Nuremberg International Toy Fair (30.1.-3.2.2019) was heralded with a festive opening event moderated by Birgit von Bentzel. The ToyAward, which was presented for the 16th time, was the main focus of the evening event. Already last week 15 products in five categories were announced, yesterday the winners were determined.

Spielmesse eG awards the prize for “particularly innovative product ideas in four age-group-specific categories and in the newly conceived Startup segment”. The expert jury consists of 16 people from trade, market research, education, science and toy safety. The jury also included a blogger. The winners were selected from a total of 838 registrations. Important selection criteria were: Fun, originality, safety, potential for success in retail, workmanship & quality and comprehensibility of the product concept.

ToyAward 2019 – These are the winners:

The Magic Touch Piano Musical Toy by Hape International + Kids II was awarded in the category Baby & Infant (0-3 years). This wooden piano features Magic Touch technology and has no keys. Finger warmth is enough to elicit music from the toy. Even complete melodies can be played independently. “In this way, the piano promotes the early musical education of the little ones”, praises the jury.

The winners in the PreSchool category (3-6 years) are the bworld theme sets by Bruder Spielwaren. “The realistic play worlds are also exciting for older children”, the jury concluded.

Paul Heinz Bruder, Managing Partner of Bruder Spielwaren: “Winning the ToyAward for our bworld theme sets gives us a boost for 2019. With this year’s launch of the bworld theme sets we can now offer complete play worlds together with our vehicles and figures. This means that we are now more broadly positioned and the children can intensively live out the role play that is so important for social competence. Initially, five bworld theme sets will be on offer: motorcycle workshop, medical and police station, car workshop and stable. Each theme set includes not only room walls, but also individual play accessories and bworld play figures. This allows the children’s imagination to unfold to the full. Of course, the new room play concept can be expanded as desired.”

Via Smart Home or Smartphone connected with the free language assistant Google Assistant daily current questions come into play – whose answers can change depending upon play time and – place.”
