Schmidt Spiele will continue to rely heavily on Sorgenfresser in the future. Until the end of 2030, the publisher extended its cooperation with Hahn Film AG for this license brand. Together with two European partners, the Berlin animation and film studio will produce a new season of the popular TV series. The new season will be broadcast from the beginning of 2020. The episodes each comprise eleven minutes.

Schmidt Spiele has been a partner here for years. He successfully distributes the Sorgenfresser as plush figures, key rings, accessories and stationery products. For the traditional Berlin publisher, this license is of great importance for the company’s success. The company achieved significantly higher sales in the plush segment in 2018, with growth of ten percent. As in the previous year, the Sorgenfresser led the way with the license themes for plush as the strongest brand on the German market.

Agreement includes rights for worry-eaters in DACH region

With the extended cooperation, Schmidt Spiele will continue to hold the rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Hahn Film AG will receive the rights for the rest of the European market.

Sorgenfresser are a globally successful entertainment license. Their characters are penned by Gerd Hahn, the founder of Hahn Film AG. The characters are meant to help children, but also adults, to forget their worries and to overcome them - by eating them. Several million pieces have already been sold.

Figures have already been awarded numerous international prizes

Educators praise the concept. Sorgenfresser have already received numerous international awards. The license was awarded with the LIMA Awards, the Independent Toy Awards and the Mom’s Choice Awards. It was also the winner of the IberToy and The Toy Fair awards. Meanwhile there are over 40 different characters. Among them are figures with magnets that can be attached to refrigerators, lamps or shelves.

Sorgenfresser are marketed by the licensing agency Kiddinx Media GmbH. It is a subsidiary of Good Time Holding GmbH. According to one of the leading German companies in the field of children’s and family entertainment, it is based in Berlin. Good Time Holding’s brands include Mensch ärgere Dich nicht, Kniffel, Benjamin Blümchen, Bibi Blocksberg and Bibi & Tina. Schmidt Spiele GmbH and Selecta Holzmanufaktur GmbH also belong to the group.
